Judith Wiser, active for many years in community and Jewish affairs, is seeking a post on the board of trustees of Oakland Community College. She holds a B.A. degree in education from Wayne State University and was the founder and director of the Southfield Ballet Company, having per- formed with the Detroit Sym- phony Orchestra both at Ford Auditorium and in local Oak- land County locations in con- junction with two award- winning TV specials and various other programs. • She has run her own business for more than 20 years and is now involved in commercial real estate and is treasurer for Hori- zon Health Care Services. Mrs. Wise is a member of the Governor's Advisory Council on Deafness and is coordinating a pilot TV program for cable for the advisory council. She was assistant/associate professor at Oakland Community College from 1973 to 1981 after having taught communication and English for the Detroit Board of Education. To date the program is co-sponsored by Sinai Hospital and Perry Drugs. The program will involve competition, recreation, health and fitness. The competition by age division will include: swim- ming, track and field, . tennis, table tennis, racquetball,. squash, volleyball and basket- ball free throw. In addition there will be tournaments in duplicate bridge, pan, mahjong, chess, backgammon, and Trivial Pursuit. Sinai Hospital will also have a Wellness Fair with ongo- ing screenings, demonstrations, and lectures. In addition to Detroiters, delegations from Chicago, Col- umbus and Toledo, are also ex- pected to participate. An opening ceremony will be held at 8 a.m. Sept. 28 at the Maple/Drake building. Competi- tion and activities will occur all day with a closing banquet and ceremony planned for that eve- ning. Medals will be awarded to first, second and third place finishers in each event with rib- bons to all participants. Instructional clinics in many of the competitive sports will be held throughout the summer at the Center. There is• a registration fee which covers all activities. Couples Form Camping Group A new camping group for young Jewish couples, age 21-35, is being formed. The new group, Camping and Traveling Couples, is planning to install officers and schedule activities. During a recent Jewish Com- munity Council-sponsored mis- sion to Washington, D.C., a group of local Christian leader- ship and Jewish community leaders spent a day in com- prehensive briefings about Mid- dle East Affairs.
