The Perfect Gift For Father's Day and Graduation
Greater Detroit Chapter,
Hadassah, will honor its
president, Diane J. Klein of
West Bloomfield, at a tribute
luncheon to be held on behalf of
State of Israel Bonds, it was mi.:
nounced by Barbara Stollman,
Israel Bonds Women's Division
chairman. The event will be
hosted by Barbara Nusbaum in
her Franklin home at noon June
30.
Mrs. Klein, who is completing
her third year as chapter
president, is a member of the Is-
rael Bonds Women's Division
board and is active in many
other Jewish community organ-
izations. She will be presented
at the luncheon with the State
of Israel's Lion of Judah Award
"in appreciation of outstanding
leadership in the program to
strengthen Israel's economy."
Luncheon co-chairmen are Phyl-
lis Newman and Leah Snider.
A native Detroiter, Mrs. Klein
is a graduate of the University
of Michigan, where she earned a
master's degree in guidance and
counseling. Her initial member-
ship in Hadassah came as a
Chanukah gift from her late
mother, Bess Yura, former
president of the Wyoming
Group.
As a young married woman,
Mrs. Klein was one of the foun-
ders of the Shalom Group and
served as the second president of
that group.
In the last decade, she has
held a variety of positions on
the chapter level, among them:
program vice president, area
vice president, chairman of the
expansion committee, Part-
Time-Parent Telethon chairman,
Eye Bank chairman and chair-
man of the nominating commit-
tee.
As a member of the Women's
Division board of the Jewish
Welfare Federation, she chaired
the community-wide Institute
Day and for two years was the
chairman of the Kadima di-
vision of the Allied Jewish
Campaign. She is a member of
Federation's committee on iden-
tity and affiliation.
She serves as a board member
of the Amerkan Friends of He-
brew Univrsity and the Detroit
Zionist Federation, and holds
membership on the Detroit
Soviet Jewry Committee and the
newly-formed executive board of
AIPAC in Metro Detroit.
