Ms. Hirsh is a life member of
Hadassah, a member of B'nai
B'rith Women, and of Cong,.
Beth Israel Sisterhood. She was
the recipient of the 1985 Pelavin
Young Leadership Award for
the Flint Jewish Federation.
There is no charge for the
luncheon for Adat Shalom Sis-
terhood members. There is a fee
for guests. Reservations are re
quired and may be made by cal-
ling the synagogue office, 851-

Frumeth Hirsh

Adat Shalom Sisterhood will
hold its annual women's Shac-
hrit service and installation of
officers on June 9 at the
synagogue. Services will be held
in the small chapel beginning at
10:30 a.m.
The installation will begin
promptly at noon. Betsy Win-
kelman, past president of the
sisterhood, will be the installing
officer. The program for the af-
ternoon will feature a selection
of songs, presented by Frumeth
Hirsh.
Ms. Hirsh was trained in
music and dance, and at 17 she
joined Ruth Pages's Chicago
Opera Ballet for two seasons.
Continuing her musical educa-
tion at DePaul University, she
earned a Frederic Cramer
Scholarship in voice, a Bachelor
of Music degree with highest
honors as well as an Arthur
Schmitt Graduate Fellowship.
During this time she appeared
with the Chicago-Germania
Operetta Theatre, in summer
stock at Melody Top Theatre
and as first girl of Jerome Rob-
bins' Fancy Free, under the au-
spices of the American Ballet
Theatre.
For three years she was a sol-
oist at Anshe Emet Synagogue
and Chicago audiences saw her
in professional theatre at in-
the-round dinner theatre in
roles ranging from Nellie For-
bush in South Pacific to Mrs.
Strakosh in Funny Girl and at
Millrun Playhouse, where she
appeared as Gretchen in Student
Prince and was cast as Miss
Gooch in Auntie Marne.
In the last decade she has
taken time off from the practice
of law to entertain audiences in
programs which, in addition to
Hebrew and Yiddish music, in-
clude art song, concert and mus-
ical comedy. She has sung for
the past two years for the
state-wide Holocaust memorial
ceremonies and is a regular
chanazit at her synagogue,
where she became its first
woman president in its 65-year
history. She was soprano soloist
in Handel's Judas Maccabeus
for the Flint Jewish Federation's
1985 concert. She has served as
president of the Women
Lawyers Association of Michi-
gan Foundation, and she was

Women Benefit
Children's Home

The Amit Women's Children's
Home in Israel will be the reci-
pient of proceeds from the an-
nual cocktail party and bar
becue sponsored by Batya Chap-
ter of Detroit.
The cocktail party and bar-
becue will begin at 6 p.m. June
1 at Cong. Shaarey Zedek. Party
chairman Nora Lessman and
her co-chairmen, Miriam Ferber,
Fran Rogers, Lucille Ruby and
Andree Prostak, will welcome
the guests.
The children's home is located
in the Gilo section of Jerusalem.
Orphaned children and those ,
from broken homes are housea
at the residence.
Batya Chapter currently is
furnishing the living quarter-
for the children. The chapte r,
has already sponsored rooms in
the home.
The dinner committee is com-
prised of Fanny Adelsberg, Toby
Albert, Dolores Brown, Margie
Burstyn, Rosa Chessler, Penny
Greenstein, Renee Gunsber
Doreen Hermelin, Doroth
Klausner, Ruth Mittleman,
