Temple Beth El will hold its
32nd annual Hebrew music festi-
val at 8:30 p.m. May 23. Theme of
the festival is Our Musical Heri- -
tage Through the Years."
The evening will feature the
work of composer Dr. Shalom
Kalib, professor of music at East-
ern Michigan University and
cantor for a Flint congregation;
and Dr. Morris Hochberg, profes-
sor of music and head of the
string department at Wayne
State University.
The guest choir, the Madrigal
Chorale of Southfield, directed by
Carolyn Eynon, will be joined by
three Temple Beth El choirs,
under the direction of Mamie
Tickton.
Appearing in the program with
them will be Rabbis Dannel I.
Schwartz and Norman T. Roman;
and Prof. Jason Tickton, music
director and organist for the tem-
ple.
The Hebrew music festival is
sponsored by the Sandra T.
Bloom Memorial Music Fund,
courtesy of Barbara and Douglas
Bloom. For the past ten years,
this fund has subsidized musical
programs of traditional as well as
contemporary music.
There is no admission charge.
All are welcome.
