Cong. Beth Shalom will pre-
sent "An Evening of Art and
Music" at 6 p.m. Thursday at the
synagogue, under the auspices of
the synagogue's cultural commis-
sion.
At 6 p.m., an art show and sale,
featuring the work of Israeli
sculptor Aharon Bezalel, will be
conducted by Gallery Yakir.
The annual Frank Friedman
Memorial Concert will follow the
art show and sale. The Israeli
opera and concert stars soprano
Stella Richmond and baritone
Tibor Herdan. They will perform
Israeli, Yiddish and cantorial
songs and selections from opera
and musicals.
Richmond and Herdan fre-
quently appear as soloists with
the Israel Philharmonic Or-
chestra, the Israel Chamber Or-
chestra and the Jerusalem Sym-
phony, among others. Both have
appeared in leading roles in
operas with the Israel Philhar-
monic Orchestra and the Israel
National Opera Company.
They each hold the rank of
senior instructor in voice at the
Israel Music Academy at Tel
Aviv University. They have ap--
peared on radio, in symphonic
programs and have made record-
ings.
Dessert will be served prior to
the 8 p.m. concert.
Admission to the concert, spon-
sored by the Friedman family, is
free of charge. Reserved seating
is available for patrons ($50),
sponsors ($25) and donors ($10).
Proceeds will benefit synagogue
programs.

of the cultural commission. As-

Appeal Issued
For Blood Donors
The Red Cross has issued an
urgent appeal for blood dona-
tions. Volunteers may make do-
nations at the Oak Park Donor
Center, 25900 Greenfield from 10
a.m.-4 p.m. Monday and Friday;
2-8 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday; and
9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.

will exhibit his illustrations and
typography at the Oak Park Li-
brary throughout May.
Pelavin, a free-lance artist who
resides in Greenwich Village,
N.Y. is a 1966 graduate of Oak
Park ' High School.
