Lydia Kukoff
Two parlor meetings in ad-
vance of the Reform community's
Fund for Reform Judaism dinner
are to be held this Monday and
Tuesday.
Coming here to address the
meetings will be Lydia Kukoff,
director of the Commission on Re-
form Jewish Outreach, the pro-
gram established by the Reform
movement to welcome Jews by
choice or non-Jewish spouses to
Judaism.
Mrs. Kukoff will speak at a
leadership reception for members
of Temple Beth El, Temple
Emanu-El and Temple Beth
Jacob on Monday, in the home of
Dr. and Mrs. Lawrence E. Lee,
555 Yarboro, Bloomfield Hills.
On Tuesday, she will address
the leadership of Temple Israel
and Temple Kol Ami in the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie R.
Schmier, 4452 Stoney River,
Birmingham.
Mrs. Kukoffs message on the
dramatic new programs of the
Union of American Hebrew Con-
gregations made possible
through the Fund for Reform
Judaism will precede the FRJ
dinner, to be held on May 28 at
Temple Israel.
At the dinner itself, Reform's
Lamed Vav Awards will be pre-
sented.
Members of the newly-
established Troy Jewish Congre- •
gations are also participating in
the dinner program.
Mrs. Kukoff, herself a Jew by
Choice (convert), conducts work-
shops and seminars and has lec-
tured extensively to lay and pro-
fessional groups. In her work, she
creates, implements and develops
programming in the areas of pre
and post conversion.
The author of the book, Choos-
ing Judaism, Mrs. Kukoff is also
co-author of an introduction to
Judaism curriculum published by
the UAHC and has produced a
videotape entitled "Choosing
Judaism: Some Personal Perspec-
tives."
She is a member of the
UAHC-CCAR Commission on
Education, and in Los Angeles
where she resides, is active in the
Jewish Federation Council, the
Council on Jewish Life, the
Commission on Outreach to Con-
verts and Council on Adult
Learning. She also is active in
the Coalition on Alternatives in
Jewish Education (CAJE).
