Malicious destruction of property
is what Southfield Police are calling
last weekend's wreckage of the inter-
ior of the Yeshivath Beth Yehudah.
Vandals entering the Southfield
Jewish day school through a rear
window smashed classroom windows,

mirrors and clocks and destroyed
office machinery — copiers, adding
machines and typewriters — beyond
repair. Telephones were smashed and
ripped out and the intercom system
destroyed. Only the synagogue was
untouched. According to Rabbi Nor-
man Kahn, school administrator, the
damage was discovered by Past
President Rabbi Dov Loketch around
6 p.m. Friday. Loketch ran to a
nearby house where neighbors called
the police who arrived shortly there-
after. Officer Gary Conat said there
are no suspects in custody, but an in-
vestigation is under way.
