Join For Memorial
The city of Southfield and the
Holocaust Memorial Center will
host a special Holocaust memo-
rial observance on Tuesday at 7
p.m. in the Southfield Civic Cen-
ter Pavilion.
The observance is part of a
week-long program, "The
Holocaust Haggadah," being held
in remembrance of the 41st an-
niversary after Auschwitz and
the 43rd commemoration of the
Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. As part
of a nationwide observance,
Southfield Mayor Donald
Fracassi has proclaimed Sunday
through May 11 as "The Days of
Remembrance" in Southfield.
Tuesday's observance will fea-
ture a special Holocaust exhibit
by New York artist David Wan-
der and noted Jewish artist and
calligrapher Yonah Weinrib.
The exhibit is on display at the
Holocaust Memorial Center, in
West Bloomfield, through Mon-
day, and will be featured at the
Southfield Civic Center Pavilion
from Tuesday through May 10.
The program will feature a dis-
play of the Holocaust Haggadah
and an Academy Award-winning
film, The Courage to Care. Three
showings of the film will be fea-
tured from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday.

Jay Robinson was a bit disap-
pointed with his Boston
Marathon time last week, but
happy he ran in the Boston race
for the second time in his life.
"A spring marathon is tough on
anyone from this area," Robinson
said. "In the fall, runners have
had a chance to run all summer. I
also do some biking and get used
to the heat. But when I qualify
for Boston, I go. I figure that if I
make the qualifying time, I de-
scribe the trip.
Robinson also ran in the 1982
Boston race. He finished last
week's 26 miles and 385 yards in
