THE BEST OF THREE din-
ing experiences is now at Dimit-
ri's of Southfield, Southfield Rd.
and Ten Mile . . . with the excel-
lent acquisition of Chef Ernie
DiMichele . . . a long-time local
favorite.•
Dimitri's Greek dishes are
being de-emphasized ... with
more import now on Italian fare
and seafood ... both regular or
Cajun style.
At lunch recently, I had Ernie's
very good Stracciatella soup
(spinach' egg drop), his little
homemade garlic rolls . . . and
seafood linguini, with oodles of
shrimp, clams and scallops.
Every Monday evening now is
Italian Buffet Night ... and Sun-
day buffets are Jewish, Greek
and Italian.
Whatever folks order can be
made by Ernie ... he's that good
... If the dish is too intricate or
requires extra buying, give Ernie
a little time . . . but he'll make it
for you. •
One of his great dishes and big
sellers is called Rigatoni Joe .
Back in 1938, the late James
Beard wrote a U.S. News and
World Report article about pasta
to become the food of the '80s .
His item was about a place in
New Jersey that served only
pasta ... and was called Rigatoni
Joe . . . Ernie's big favorite comes
with his own homemade meat
sauce . . . and sauteed Italian
sausages.
Lund' specials while I was
thew included Cajun Style red-
fish, Nun style or broiled sal-
mon, Sicilian style breaded pic-
kerel, chicken piccante, steak
Siciliano, Steak Ernie with fried
mushrooms and onions, pasta
with seafood, his Rigatoni Joe,
calves liver and onions and
braised lamb with green beans
. quite a diversification from
Dimitri's usual Greek specials.
The dinner menu now has
about 16 different fish and sea-
food dishes also . . . with still
more to come . . . including a
lobster tank. -
IT'S 35 YEARS for Rina's res-
taurant on Schaefer near Fenkell
. and still among the finest
homemade Italian family
eateries within its price range in
the Detroit area . . . Ann and
Enzo Cote own and operate the
dining spot to which people come
from everywhere.

-
IT'S SO NICE to celebrate
your birthday among close
friends and family ... and watch
everyone enjoy themselves also
... This was Roy Feinberg's 57th
and his party at Topinka's, Seven
Mile and Telegraph, given by
wife Barbara . . . was attended by
over 30 people.
They saw the wonderful Star-
line Revue ... of lookalike im-
personators who sound as them,
alsoPeople like Frank Sternett
(Barry Manilow), Art Vargas
(Bobby Darin, Boy George,
Liberate), Tracy Jackson (Donna
Sommers, Tina Turner), etc. ...
all joined in to give Roy's party a
lot of extra something.
At our table was Carol and Lou
Kliman, Leah and Mitchell
Marks, Lucy Nowakowska, Bar-
bara and .Roy, and my wife
Frieda.
Seated at our tables to fete
Roy's birthday . . . were Mort
Weisling, Laura Goldfarb, Butch
and Sherry Chaben, Barbara
Chamberlain and Bobby Fein-
berg, Marilyn and Avery War-
nick, Marilyn and Mel Rothen-
berg (he's Roy's partner at All-
Sash Windows), Trudy and Kim
Perry, Sam Schwartz, Ann and
Sid Abels, Shelly and Gary Fein-
berg, Clarice and Gerald Hyman,
and Dr. Daniel Feinberg.
The food was delicious -...
everybody enjoyed a good time
. and most of all ... Roy Fein-
berg has a very happy birthday.
GOOD EMPLOYEE DEPT.
... Cindy LeClerc . . . at Topin-

ka's . . . owner Al Balooly's all-
round gal . . . hostess, waitress
when needed, etc. . .. So conge-
nial, polite and cooperative .. .
Best part is that wherever Cindy
works, the place is like being her
own . . . which is how she treats
Topinka's . . . and customers are
very appreciative of this extra
personal service.
MEMORIES THAT FADE
DEPT. . .. Those Greene's Ham-
burgers we used to enjoy. on
Schaefer and Seven Mile evi-
dently are no more ... Surely the
Greene's at Orchard Lake Road
and Ten Mile are not the same
. . . They are very poor replicas of
the ones we'd once do almost any-
thing but kill for.
JOHN LAFFREY is back in
action again ... The around-town
restaurateur opened Scooper's
Bar & Grill about a month ago on
Telegraph and Square Lake Rd.
. . . former site of Shangri-La •
West . . . in Bloomfield Town
Square.
He always comes up with new
concepts . . . and this Aimee cit's --
huge sandwiches, fres,h, inexpen-
sive dishes and a lot 6f television
in various areas . .. even with
differnt programming.
Chris Fogo, who a lot of folks
remember from the northwest, is
John's chef ... Two fresh turkeys
are roasted daily among the
many foods . . . and a grill some-
what like John's former place on
Seven Mile and Telegraph that
still bears his name is behind a
bar.
His kitchen at the 130-seater
Scooper's is open everyday except
Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m.
The restaurant is about 600
feet from Showcase Cinetha 6-10
. . . and across the street from
Showcase Cinemas 1-5.
NICE TO SEE DEPT.... the
very pleasant employees at Sign
of The Beefcarver restaurants ...
very polite and cooperative.
DON'T KNOW WHAT they
do, but that broasted chicken at
Brass Pointe, Orchard Lake Rd.
just north of Ten Mile, is superb
. . . so moist, healthy . . . and
goodness throughout . . . The
B-B-Q ribs so many people are
raving about at Brass Pointe are
made 'on a continuously-turning
rotisserie.

.

"GREAT PASTURES," Or-
lando, Fla. area's first kosher res-

taurant,' will add meat dishes to
its menu of fish, dairy and veg-
etarian specialties beginning this
week.
Located at the Stagecoach Re-
sort Inn in Kissimmee, ten min-
utes from Walt Disney World Va-
cation Kingdom and Epcot Cen-
ter, the kosher facility opened in
September under endorsement of
National Kashruth ... with NK
president Rabbi Yacov Lipschutz
himself kashering the restaurant
and selecting its mashgiach.
Since inception, demand from
hotel guests and local residents
has been great for an expanded
menu ... The inn has now con-
verted its existing kitchen for use
in preparing meat meals .a. . A
second, smaller kitchen has been
added to handle dairy meal prep-
aration. ,
Under Stagecoach Resort Inn's
full American-Kosher plan,
