Troy Congregation
Hears Rev. Lyons

The Rev. James R. Lyons, di-
rector of the Ecumenical Insti-
tute for Jewish-Christian
Studies, will give the sermon at
the Troy Jewish Congregation
services. on May 2. Services will
be held at the Lutheran Church
of the Master, 3333 Coolidge Rd.,
Troy at 7:45 p.m.
Rev. Lyons' topic will be "The
Holocaust: A Christian View."
Since his founding of the Ecu-
menical Institute for Jewish-
Christian Studies in 1982, Rev.
Lyons has spoken on interfaith
understanding and co-existence
to hundreds of church and
synagogue groups, as well as
academic and community groups.
In addition to his studies at
Wayne State University in De-
troit, where he earned a Bachelor
of Arts degree in speech and a
Master of Arts degree in Middle
Eastern languages and litera-
ture, Rev. Lyons has conducted
research in Europe and Israel on
the Holocaust, the church strug-
gle in Nazi Germany, and on con-
temporary Jewish-Christian re.
lations.
He has traveled in the Middle
East, exploring the historical
background of the current politi-
cal situation.

Larry M. Rockind was re-
elected president of Cong. B'nai
Moshe at its annual general
meeting. Elected with him to
serve on the executve board were:
Vice Presidents, Robert Roth,
Sharlene Ungar and Dr. Edward
Klarman, Treasurer, Alan L.
Levenson, Recording Secretary,
Rena Tobes, and Corresponding
Secretary, Alan Hitsky.
Serving on the board of direc-
