Paul and Beatrice Masser-
man, former Detroiters of
Laguna. Hills, Calif., celebrated
their 60th wedding anniversary
March 29. They have been resi-
dents of Leisure World since
August 1979.
They hosted the kiddush for
the congregation after the serv-
ice at Temple Judea of Laguna
Hills. The Massermans are
active in the temple and Mas-
serman is co-editor of the temple
bulletin and serves as publicist
for the temple and various local
groups. He received the
Presidential Award from the
temple brotherhood.
Mrs. Masserman is a member
of the temple sisterhood, Hadas-
sah, Naamat USA and Women's
American ORT.
Masserman has been in news-
• paper work for over 30 years
and publicist for 20 years. He
was telegraph editor and state
editor for the former Detroit
Times fo'r 18 years and worked
on newspapers in Moline, Ill.,
Evansville and Indianapolis,
Ind. and Milwaukee, Wis.
He is co-author of The Jews
Come to America, a history of
American Jewry and was editor
of a number of publications, in-
cluding The Michigan Democrat.
Masserman served as public-
ity director of the Metropolitan
Detroit Israel Bond Organiza-
tion for more than 12 years and
was publicist for Jewish Na-
tional Fund of Detroit, for Emu
B'rith, Labor Zionist movement
and other causes. He served as
vice president of Cong. Beth
Aaron and on the board taf Cong.
Beth Achim and on the board of
the Metropolitan Detroit
Synagogue Council and Jewish
Community Council, on whose
media committee he was active.
Mrs. Masserman was active in
relief programs for displaced
persons after World War II. She
played a prominent role in the
American Jewish Congress and
as an officer of the former Cong.
Beth Aaron and at Cong. Beth
Achim.
The Massermans' children are
Esther and Robert Broner,
Monte and Marcia Masserman
and Jay and Aliza Masserman.
They have ten grandchildren.
Child I.D. Event
At Area Malls
Providence Hospital will spon-
sor a program in April which
will provide an identification
card for children at no cost to
their parents. The child identifi-
cation program will be con-
ducted during three weekends in
April at the 12 Oaks and Tel-12
Malls.
Parents will receive an identi-
cation card which will include
information about the child's
height, weight, identifiable
marks and medical data, as well
as the child's thumbprints and
photo. All of this information
will be given to the parents; no
records are kept.
Mall locations and hours are:
12 Oaks Mall, Saturday, 11
a.m.-7 p.m. and Sunday, noon-4
p.m.; Tel-12 Mall, April 19, 11
a.m.-7 p.m. and April 20, noon-4
