leader Arthur Silverstein,
executive vice president and
secretary of H.B. Shaine and
Co., will be honored as the Is-
rael Bond "Man of the Year" at
a community-wide tribute
dinner on behalf of State of Is-
rael bonds at 7:30 p.m. at the
Amway Grand Plaza Hotel.
Cocktails will be served at 6:30.
Temple Emanuel and Cong.
Ahavas Israel, both of Grand
Rapids, will co-sponsor the
event.
Dinner chairman is Stuart
Rapaport; honorary chairman is
Hy Berkowitz; reservations
chairman is Edward A. Miller.
' At the dinner, Silverstein will
be presented with the State of
Israel's Freedom award, in
recognition of his "outstanding
support for the economic de-
velopment of Israel."
In 1947 the honoree, a life-
long resident of Grand Rapids,
earned a master's degree in
business administration at the
University of Michigan and then
practiced as a certified public
accountant for 12 years in
Grand Rapids before joining the
H.B. Shaine and Co. firm. He is
a member of the American In-
stitute 'of Accountants and the
Michigan Association of
C.P.A.'s.
Silverstein is a past president
and life-time member of the
board of trustees of Temple
Emanuel. He is a past president
of the board of directors of the
Grand Rapids Child Guidance
Clinic, a former member of the
board of the Jewish Community
Fund, and a past president and
a 25-year board member of Sun-
nybrook Country Club.
Silverstein is a founding
member of the Grand Rapids
Committee for State of Israel
Bonds.

For Arts Program

The Detroit Institute of Arts'
Education Department is seek-
ing men and women volunteers
for its Art to the Schools pro-
gram. Volunteers take the
museum to the classroom
through slides, dialogue and re-
production "touchables."
The next training program
begins in September. Applica-
tions should be in by June.
Anyone interested should call

Festival Task Force will present
a teen panel to discuss "Hopes
