The Rabbi Leo M. Franklin
Memorial Fund of Temple Beth
El' will present it's annual
award in Human Relations to
Rev. James Lyons on April 18,
1986.
Rev. Lyons, founder and direc-
tor of the Ecumenical Institute
for Jewish-Christian Studies, is
being honored "for his tireless
effoits to combat theological and
social anti-Semitism, as well as
his consistent effort to create a
climate of mutual respect be-
tween Christians and Jews."
The award presentation caps
the celebration of an Ecumeni-
cal Shabbat service at Temple
Beth El, beginning at 8:30 p.m.
Rev. Lyons will give the sermon
for the service which is open to
the public.
The Franklin Award was es-
tablished in 1950 at Temple
Beth El as a permanent tribute
to Rabbi Franklin who dedicated
his ministry and his life to in-
creasing gnderstanding and
knowledke of intet-personal rb-
lations. The Ecumenical Insti-
tute will continue his mission by
using the award to establish the
Leo M. Franklin Publication
Fund.
