Comparing its development and
arrival with that of the birth of a
baby, Dr. Jeffrey Last announced
last week the completion of the sec-
ond Detroit community-wide eruv.
Speaking at an open eruv meet-
ing at Young Israel of Greenfield,
,Dr. Lag, president of Project Eruv,
said, the establishment of the eruv
"felt like the expectation of a baby.
What a child! We've been carrying
this baby for 17 years."

The purpose of the meeting, ac-
cording to Rabbi Reuven Drucker,
rabbinic administrator, was to in-
form the community about what is
allowed within the confines of the
eruv. "We don't want people to make
mistakes. We want to make sure
everyone is apprised thoroughly of
all the details."
He said the creation of the eruv
"will give us more opportunity to
fulfill mitzvos."
