Taba Talks
Likely To End
Jerusalem (JTA) — The Taba
talkS are likely to end soon and
the issues still in dispute will be
submitted to the highest politi-
cal echelons in Israel end Egypt
for decision, it was learned last
week. In Israel, the state of
talks is itself a matter of dispute
between the two ministries most
closely involved: The Prime
Minister's Office and the
Foreign Ministry.
While Foreign Minister Yit-
zhak. Shamir declared that the
talks were bogged down, and
blamed Egyptian obduracy,
Avraham Tamir, Director-Gen-
eral of the Prime Minister's Of-
fice, insisted that substantial
progress had been made.
A round of talks wound up in
Herzliya and another round has
been scheduled for Cairo, where
a final effort will be made by
legal experts to reach agreement
on the wording of the compro-
mise or document to be submit-
ted to the arbitrators.
