Estelle Gordon Burke labored
the local Zionist ranks with
r husband Albert as a major
associate, in projects emphasiz-
hag the educational and cultural
aspects of the movement.
1 As executive secretary of the
Zionist Organization of Detroit,
she was among the chief or-
ganizers of the Balfour concerts,
in 1956, as successors to the ear-
lier Balfour balls.
At the same time, she
e ncouraged and supervised the
introduction of a Zionist library
and the ZOD headquarters.
A native of Freedom, Pa.,
Mrs. Burke kept winning schol-
iiship awards as a youngster.
She was the only Jewish student
her school and was selected
by the American Legion as the
outstanding student to deliver
riincoln's Gettysburg Address at
Memorial Day services.
Before moving to Detroit, she
had worked at the State De-
partment in Washington as an
information officer.

After leaving the ZOD, Mrs.
Burke worked as secretary to
the dean of the Wayne State
University Law School while
pursuing her Master's degree in
library science. She worked as a
librarian at WSU until her re-
tirement in 1972.
Mrs. Burke was an honorary

of Southfield, died March
19. Survived by her hus-
band, Albert J.; a brother
and sister-in-law, Irving
and Ida Gordon of Ann Ar-
bor, Mich.; a nephew,
David; a niece, Janice and
husband, Robert Kraftowitz;
two brothers-in-law,
Yitzchak and Yaakov Ber-
kovits and their wives, and
two nephews and two
nieces, all of Ramat Gan,
Israel.

contractors, died March 24.
Born in Detroit, Mr. Mus-
covitz was a member of Adat

Country Club and the Detroit
Friends of Bar-Ilan UniversitY.
He was a member of the South-
east Michigan Plumbing and
Heating Contractors.
He leaves a daughter, Mrs.
Charles (Sharon) Newman of
Ann Arbor; three sons, Melvyn
of Ann Arbor, Hal, and Alan; a
sister, Mrs. Philip (Rseil) Kop-

grandchildren.
