Nemzen 64th

Sam and Sophie Nemzen of
Southfield celebrated their 64th
wedding anniversary on March
21. Their children are Ted and
Juanita Nemzin of Southfield.
The senior Nemzens have seven
grandchildren and two great-
grandchildren.
Sam, a co-founder of Crawford

Clothes, actively participated in
the chain store operation until
retiring ten years ago.

Both are active in many
charitable organizations. The
family celebrated with a party
at the Bloomfield Open Hunt
Club. •

Alex Blumenberg and Mrs.
Matilda Rubiri, chairmen of the
spring lecture series of the
Midrasha-College of Jewish
Studies, announced that a spe-
cial lecture series "Unity within
Diversity: Restoring Dialogue
within the Jewish Community"
will be held on Mondays at the
Sigmund and Sophie Rohlik
Building, 21550 W. 12 Mile,
Southfield, at 7:30 p.m. begin-
ning this Monday.
The series is an attempt to re-
store dialogue between denomi-
nations in the Jewish commu-
nity. Representative rabbis from
the community have been asked
to respond to a set of issues con-
fronting the Jewish community
today.
On Monday, the topic of
"Conversion and Patrilineal De-
scent" will be discussed by
Rabbi Norman Roman, associate
rabbi of Temple Beth El and
Rabbi Sherman Kirshner of
Cong. B'nai Israel of West
Bloomfield. A presentaton will
be made by each rabbi followed
by questions and answers.
Blumenberg will be the mod-
erator for the evening.
On April 7, "The Woman's
Role in Synagogue Life" will be
the topic of discussion. Rabbi
Elimelech Goldberg of Young Is-
rael of Southfield and Rabbi
David Nelson of Cong. Beth
Shalom will present their re-
spective positions. Mrs. Rubin
will be the moderator for the
evening.
On April 14, "How Do We
Bridge the Gap between the
Traditional and Nontraditional
Communities?" will be the focus
of discussion. Rabbi Hatskel

Lookstein, president of the New
York Board of Rabbis, and
former Detroiter Rabbi Daniel
Syme, vice president of the
Union of American Hebrew
Congregations, will discuss ap-
proaches to bridging the gap.
Rabbi Efry Spectre of Adat
Shalom Synagogue will be the
moderator.
A packet of source materials
that the rabbis will be discuss-
ing will be distributed to par-
ticipants.

Benefit Planned

The Friends of the Multiple
Sclerosis Society/Pontiac Auxil-
iary will hold a fund-raising
dinner entitled "Epicurean Ex-
travaganza,"• on April 18 at Jac-

graph, Bingham Farms.
Cocktails and a five course meal
start at 7:30 p.m.

fit the National Multiple
