To Enjoy Arts

The Levine Institute on Ag-
ing, the educational, research
and consulting component of the
Jewish Home for Aged, has been
awarded $117,400 for a nine-
month period, by the Michigan
Office of Services to the Aging.

The funds will be used to pro-
vide arts' and enrichment pro-
grams in the metropolitan De-
0.
troit area for nursing home
residents otherwise unable to
have access to arts enrichment
programs.
The program, developed by
Dr. Dennis A. Robbins, director

of the LeVine Institute, with the
help of key artistic and cultural
institutions, dance and theater
groups, musicians, visual artists
and touring groups, is targeted
primarily for minority popula-
tions with a heavy emphasis on
elderly and minority artists as
well.
It will involve a training com-
ponent coordinated by Cheryl
Riskin, assistant director of the
Jewish Home for Aged.
The institute is working
closely with the Federation of
Musicians, the Attic Theater,
Festival Dancers, Group 0 Es-
pana, the 'National Conference
of Artists, Detroit Department
of Reereation, 'Michigan. Council
for the Arts; Interlochen, Detroit
Reperatory Theater Company as
well as a variety of elderly and
minority artists.
