"The newest thing this year,"
says Krug, is a floral print suit with
a small center-V ruffle.
Also very new this year in
bikinis, is the pairing of a midriff
top with bottoms having hip-bone
high legs. The square neckline
has spaghetti straps that
criss-cross in the back, and can
be dropped for sunning. This
style top is an excellent choice for
the full busted woman, says Krug.
The suit is available in solid colors
of black, white, purple, pink and
yellow. It's also available with a
solid black bottom, and a four- or
three-color combination top in
black/yellow/red/white; or
fuschiallavender/pale pink.
Begadim carries a collection of
swimwear designed by Gideon
Oberson, who left Gottex to begin
his own company. Manufactured
and designed in Israel, the suits
are constructed of Italian lycra,
which, says Beurer, is heavier
and has a tighter stretch than
American DuPont. While other
fabrics wrinkle and loosen when
wet, beurer says the Italian lycra
remains the same.
"Oberson's designs are more
revealing in Europe, than in
America," she says," but they
continue to be exciting and
different in patterns and styles."
His colors change each season,
and every one of his suits are
designed with individual
"themes" and names, she says.
"Peach is a very important
color this season," says Beurer,
"In important European lines."
Oberson's suits are being
shown in peach, red and yellow
as well as in combinations of
black/white, gray/red and
blue/black.
The collection includes
cover-ups which are not matched
to specific suits. There are
over-size tops and skirts and
dresses in lace. He also has
designed a sarong — a large
piece of fabric to wear as a skirt
or dress.
