Pants tend to be skin-tight — as in stirrups or legginsg; or they are comfortable and pleated. The new look this season is the knee-scraping bicycle pant (knickers). Shorts are hot in boxer-style prints, as well as lady-like solid linen walking shorts. Big on the scene are the new wide-leg shorts, that are not quite like culottes, but can be substituted for skirts. They are being shown with matching jackets. Tops are either big and long; short in front to-the-waist, long in back; or cropped all over. Sweaters are either long and loose; or body-hugging and short to-the-waist (a-la the 'poor-boys look of the 1960s). Anything and everything goes this season, and the look you create becomes uniquely yours alone. "The strapless merry widow look is being used in `playwear s ' " says Harriet Dunsky, owner of the Bobette Shop in Pontiac. Brightly colored flowers decorate a one-piece Gottex swimsuit, with plunging front and back. The merry widow top, with stays in it, is being shown with matching shorts and a shirt cover-up.
