Not all mothers want to dress
their infants and toddlers like their
older siblings. There are still the
classic styles of baby clothes to
be found, and outfits can still be
bought in pink for girls, blue for
boys.
Children's shoes aren't
following the trend towards
splashy and bright. There are a
few that have prints — Hawaiian
or safari — and a few with
florescent sections that glow in
the dark.
Boys tennis shoes will be
black, white, blue and grey — dull
nothing really bright. For
colors
girls there'll be some yellow, as
well as a return of much of last
year's styles and colors. For both
groups high-tops will be a favored
item going into spring. The
smaller children will turn to ones
splattered with paint or decorated
in Wuzzles.
For less casual occasions such
as parties and going to
synagogue, white or black patent
leather is still the number one
choice for girls. Some pastels are
being sold. Bows on the shoes
and different ornaments may
change the look a little. The
young teenage girl will go for the
skimmer look and she may add a
bow to it, or a jewel cluster, a
replay of the look of the 1950s
and early 1960s, when ladies had
snap-on bows and different
ornaments to go with each outfit.
Bernie Zivov, of Greg Shoes,
adds "Girls will have a
Sunday-Monday look, a dressy
shoe they can wear to school if
they want to. Otherwise they'll
wear tennis shoes."
Boys dress shoes are the same
as the last few years as for them
also, dressy and casual living
overlap.

It shows lightweight fabrics that
can easily be layered; it's lots of
cotton and natural fabrics.
There's a place in it for the
colorful fruits and other bright
prints, and room for the more
traditional. And overall it is
casual.
