According to Vogue magazine, clothes this spring will "have a sense of real dressing, a sense of finish that always defines the best day clothes. The behind-the- scenes of any fashion job is important because one missing detail can make or break a designer on an Avenue where competition reigns supreme. And the key the sense that these clothes do, indeed, work." Along with the fashion designs comes an important shift in accessories. The biggest change is the use of more silver than gold. "Gold is sensual and warm, just the right accent for winter," says Donna Karan. "When spring came, I simply shifted gears to silver notes." Jewelry designer Jackie Rogers agrees, "Silver gives a subtle gleam to evening dress." Getting the accessories, like jewelry, out to the stores is something Angela Rett DePinto of Miriam Haskell's showroom has been doing for the past eight years. Haskell's is one of several showrooms located east of Seventh Avenue that also pulses with creativity and design innovations.
