and blue are making a strong

collars will come back, and
French cuffs are strong. "Most

TIES: Tie and handkerchief sets
are making a comeback at Shirt
Box, and paisley ties seem to be
hot sellers. "Paisley ties are really
big — we can't keep them in
stock," Elkus says. Pastels and
flower patterns are finding large
appeal among men at Kosins, but
businessmen are looking for
"neat foulards" with yellow
backgrounds "Airy geometrics"
are also popular Kosins staples.
Brights as well as floral prints and
geometrics are top sellers at
L'Uomo Vogue.
Men want sweaters, according
to "Hersh" Rothenberg. Cotton
sweaters are the most requested
and says The Shirt Box's Elkus, in
patterns "anything goes."
Grumet finds the coming warm
weather season will see a lot of
hand-knit cotton sweaters
adorned with unusual geometric
patterns and same fabric shirts
and sweaters will be de rigeur for
the fashion-conscious man. At
Kosins, a cotton-ramie blend or
linen sweater in black and white
or in a variety of pastels will prove
to be an important item to pick up
for the coming months.

OUTERWEAR:The oversized
look will continue into men's
rainwear, and the Italian
influence of the San Remo and
Giorgio Armani lines will be
strong. Perry Ellis is featuring an
unconstructed raincoat which
can be layered over other
garments. The look in outerwear
will be unlined, with a large pleat
down the back.
In jackets, more expensive,
soft-leather is being touted, and
knit and leather combinations are
not only stylish but functional as
