There is a fee. Dr. Abraham Balaban, the guest lectuere, was educated at Tel Aviv University. He has taught at Harvard University and is currently an assistant professor of modern Hebrew literature at the University of Michigan. He has published numerous books, articles and reviews in- cluding Between God and Beast which deals .with the major themes in Amos Oz's works. Dr. Balaban grew up on Kibbutz Hulda as did Amos Oz. A leading author in Israel, Oz has been called the "New Wave" in Israeli fiction. His novels, short stores and essays have been trans- lated into 17 langauges. He is the author of My Michael; Elsewhere Perhaps; Touch the Water, Touch the Wind; In the Land of Israel; Where the Jackals Howl.
