Empire Halts
Beef Production

Mifflintown, Pa., — Empire
Kosher Foods, Inc., has an-
nounced plans to discontinue the
processing and production of all
beef and beef products, effective
immediately.
In announcing the change,
Harry M. Geedey, Empire
Kosher sales manager, noted
that over the past ten years con-
sumers have become more and
more conscious of the high
cholesterol content of beef and,
as a result, beef sales have fal-
len throughout the industry. At
the same time, demand and
sales of quality chicken and
turkey products has continued
to grow to an all time high.
Over the past six months Em-
pire Kosher has introduced a
number of new turkey "deli"
products, including slab turkey
pastrami, gourmette corned tur-
key, slab smoked turkey breast
and others.
