Dolores and Hyman Brown

Dolores and Hyman Brown,
members of Young Israel of
Oak-Woods, will be recognized
by the National Council of
Young Israel with the Shofar
Award, which will be presented
at its 74th anniversary banquet
on- March 16 at the Sheraton
Centre in Manhattan.
The Browns have been mem-
bers of the Young Israel of
Oak-Woods for the past 15
years. Brown has served the
synagogue as imember and
chairman of its board of direc-
tors, as well as first vice
president. He has also chaired
many of its functions and activi-
ties. Mrs. Brown is a life
member of the synagogue's sis-
terhood.
Brown is a charter member of
the Morgenthau Lodge of B'nai
B'rith. He is active in support of
Shaare Zedek Hospital in

Jerusalem, and the Jewish
Home for the Aged. He is a
member of the Silverman Post
of the Jewish War Veterans and
the Disabled American Veterans
organization.
He was graduated from the
Wayne State University College
of Pharmacy in 1940, and is a
member of the American Phar-
maceutical Association.
Mrs. Brown is a life member
and member of the local board
of Amit Women and Bar-Ilan
University Women. She is also a
life member of the auxiliary of
the Jewish Home for the Aged.
Other Jewish organizations she
is active with include: Women's
American ORT, Women of
Jewish National Fund, Shaare
Zedek Hospital, the Sinai Hospi-
tal Guild and National Council
of Jewish Women.

Seniors Study Humanities

Brilliant Combination

Frances Weinberg will direct
a program for senior adults on
"Self-Discovery Through the
Humanities" at 11 a.m. Tuesday
in room 4 of the Jimmy Prentis
Morris Branch of the Jewish
Community Center.
At 1 p.m. Tuesday, Rabbi
Elimelech Silberberg of Cong.
Bais Chabad of West Bloomfield
will speak on "Jewish History
through the Eyes of the Torah"
in the JPM assembly hall.
On Wednesday, Chana Klein
will direct a class on Jewish lit-
erature at 10:30 a.m. in the li-
brary.
A new program, Bainainu
(Between Us) will begin at 11
a.m. Thursday in room 15 of the
JPM Branch. The program will
feature intergenerational
dialogue sessions relating to
Jewish family life.
Thursday's topic will be
"Motherhood — Part II."
