The Merkaz, the Layman's
Association of the Council of Or-
thodox Rabbis, announces a
city-wide campaign to educate
the Jewish community in the
proper selection'and use of kosher
mezuzot.
During the month of March,
educational video programs will
be presented at schools through-
out the area including Yeshivath
Beth Yehudah, Beth Jacob
Schools for Girls, Akiva Hebrew
Day School, the United Hebrew
Schools and others. A local sofer
(scribe) will demonstrate tech-
niques of writing and will discuss
the care and display of mezuzot.
Because mezuzot can become
invalid through cracking or fad-
ing, the Merkaz will conduct a
mezuzah checking campaign at
locations in Oak Park and South-
field, to insure the kashrut of all
the mezuzot in the community.
There will be no charge for in-
spections.

for the past five years, was
elected first vice president of the
National Association of
Synagogue Administrators at the
41st annual convention held re-
cently in Miami Beach, Fla.
Jablonski also was named a fel-
low in synagogue administration.
He recently was elected a
N.A.S.A. representative to the
United Synagogue and currently
serves as secretary of the
Synagogue Council of Greater
Detroit.
