The scholarship selection
committee of Cong. Beth Achim
is accepting applications for the
1986-1987 Israel scholarships
which are annually awarded
each spring.
The Harry and Sarah Laker
Israel Youth Scholarship award
will be granted to a Jewish col-
lege student who is a resident of
Michigan and has been accepted
for a year of study in one of Is-
rael's universities.
The Samuel and Dora
Kobaker Memorial Scholarship
will be awarded to a Jewish
resident of Michigan who wishes
to attend an institution of
higher Jewish learning in Israel
either at a university or under
Jewish religious sponsorship.
Applicants for either of these
awards which consists of $1500
each should apply to the Schol-
arship Selection Committee,
Cong. Beth Achim, 21100 W. 12
Mile, Southfield, 48076, or call
the synagogue. 352-8670 for an
application form. All applicants
will be personally interviewed
by the committee. The deadline
for submitting applications is
April 15.

JPI Students
Prepare For Purim

Students in the Jewish Par-
ents Institute will visit residents
of the Fleischman Residence to
help them prepare for Purim.
Participating students in-
clude: Greg Axelrad, Jessica
Berg, Amy Blatt, liana Bruton,
Melissa Kieda, John Rappaport,
Lindsey Shapiro, Bradley Weber
and Julie Holtzman.
The children, students of Dee
Demeter's Club One class and
their teen assistant, Debi Golds-
tein, will help residents decorate
the complex for a forthcoming
Purim celebration.

Thursday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. or
Sundays, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Lecture Planned
At Jewish Center

The Detroit District, Zionist
Organization of America; Labor
Zionist Institute and the Jewish
Center will join for a lecture at
2 p.m. Sunday at the Center.
Simmy Ziv-El, central
shaliach for Habonim Dror and
United Kibbutz Movement in
North America, will speak on
"Kibbutz 1986 — Myths and
Facts."
The lecture is free and open to
the public.

Toastmasters
Plan A Meeting

The Jewish Center Toastmas-
ter's Club will meet at 7:30 p.m.
