THE WORKMEN'S CIRCLE

1900

The Jan. 17 paper — our
"Jewish" paper — was decorated
with a "C" (cross) outside and
inside! (Half Jews?"). Believe
me, it wasn't necessary to put
that "C" (cross) there to get the
idea across. It is unnecessary
and degrading to our "Jewish"
paper — unless we weren't
notified that it has become an-
other "C" (Christian) paper.

No Prayer By
Grieving Students?

On the day America grieved
for the Challenger crew, tens of
thousands of school children
(traumatized more than all of us
because of their tender age and
the teacher's death) were barred
by U.S. law from expressing
their feelings inside the
classroom in the way their
elected representatives inside
the Congress and Senate were
doing at that very moment —
bowing their heads in a moment
of silence.
Is this really the American
way?

A LEGACY WORTH LIVING

Emma Pollak

As I sat and watched the
memorial service on television
for Judith Resnick, I thought
about what her life and death
meant to young Jewish girls,
who, like her, have stars in
their eyes and space as their as-
pirations.
Her death reminds us that we
are not invincible but that we
must strive to .reach all our
goals before God summons us to
return to Him.
Let her courage, her
strengths, and her goals be im-
mortalized in our faith as to
what Jewish women can be-
come. Let her life encourage our
young women to strive to be all
that they can and achieve all
their hopes and dreams.

The Jewish News of Jan. 24:

"Can the Nation's Oldest Jewish
Organization Survive?"
The B'nai• B'rith grew to be-
come a commercial organization
and lost the basic ideas of the
founding brothers to help and to
understand the needs of the
single member.
This is the reason that so
many are no more interested in
the B'nai B'rith.
