Shaliach Speaks
At Jewish Center

The second lecture in the
series "Israel: Idealism-Realism,
Challenging the Mind," will be
held on Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. at the
main Jewish Community Cen-
ter. There is no charge and the
series is open to the public.
Simmy Ziv-El, central
Shaliach, Habonim Dror and the
United. Kibbutz Movement for
North America, will speak on
"Kibbutz 1986, Myths and
Facts."
Ziv-E1 was born in Pretoria,
South Africa, and in 1978 made
aliyah to Kibbutz Nir-Eliyahu
with a Habonim garin.
During his student years he
was active in Jewish student af-
fairs in South Africa. Ziv-E1 is
an honors graduate of the Uni-
versity of Witwatersrand,
Johannesburg. He was chairman
of the South African Zionist
Youth Council, an executive
member and honorary officer of
the South African Zionist Fed-
eration, member of the World
Zionist Actions Committee and
the Jewish Agency Assembly.
He represented South African
Jewry at the second world con-
ference on Soviet Jewry in
Brussels.
Prior to coming to the U.S.,
Ziv-El served as executive direc-
tor to Kibbutz Nir-Eliyahu and
was active in the Labor Party
Young Guard.
Co-sponsors of the lecture
series are Zionist Orgnization of
America — Metropolitan Detroit
District,- Labor Zionist Institute,
Jewish Community Center.

Holds Meeting

The Scoliosis Association of
Mfchigan will hold its monthly
support group meeting Feb. 20
at 7:30 p.m. in the Providence
Medical Building, 22250 Provi-
dence Dr., Southfield, on the
eighth floor in Conference Room
E. The guest speaker will be
Frank Kava, physical therapist
and director of Oakland Physi-
cal Therapy in Novi and South-
field..His topic will be: "Physical
Therapy for Scoliosis and Back.
Pain." The public is invited at
