Council of America will gather ,
at the home of David and Do-
reen Hermelin in Birmingham
on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Rabbi Gilbert Klaperman,
first vice-president of the SCA
and spiritual leader of Cong.
Beth Sholom, Lawrence, N.Y.,
and Rabbi Klaperman, a past
president of the Rabbinical
Council of America and the New
York Board of Rabbis, will dis-
cuss "Can We Achieve Jewish
Unity?" Rabbi Henry D.
Michelman, executive vice
president of the SCA, will
speak.
Rabbi Michelman will review
the initiatives in Christian-
Jewish relations being con-
ducted by the Synagogue Coun-
cil as the representaive body of
the congregational and rabbinic
organizations of Conservative,
Orthodox and Reform Judaism
in the United States.
Rabbi Irwin Groner of Cong.
Shaarey Zedek is vice president
of the SCA.
Spencer Partrich, a member of
the SCA board of governors,
said the meeting will feature
reports on SCA cooperation with
Operation Independence headed
by Max Fisher and Hermelin,
the Israel Bond Organization
and the Israel Ministry of
Tourism, in bringing Conserva -
tive, Orthodox and Reform rab-
bis to meet with Prime Minister
Shimon Peres in Jerusalem as
