Sobel! Kin Dies

New York — Rose Sobell,
mother of Rosenberg trial co-
defendant Morton Sobell, died
Jan. 24 at age 91.
Mrs. Sobell fought for many
years to reverse the conviction
of her son, who was convicted in
1951 of conspiring to commit es-
pionage and sentenced to 30
years in prison.

Translations

New York — The Fund for
the Translation of Jewish Liter-
ature has just been organized,
announced the president of its
board of directors, author Lucy
S. Dawidowicz. It was. estab-
lished to commission and spon-
sor the translation and-publica-
tion of Jewish literature created
in languages that are inaccessa-
ble to most Jews today.
As its first major project, the
fund will sponsor the Library of
Yiddisli Classics, a' series to rec-
reate the best of Yiddish litera-
ture in English translation.
