gas was five hours, with
tertainment along the way ...
d even driver Joel Cohen
tched in with a joke here and
ere ... Phil Berle, about to hit
, is noted mostly as Milton
erle's brother, but he is a
oryteller in his own right ...
aking the bus mike, Phil told
ese ... Woman to mortician,
I n my demise, I want my body
emated." The mortician said,
m sorry, lady, but your reli-
ion doesn't allow this." She hol-
red, screamed and insisted,
Listen! who's paying for this?".
he mortician finally agreed.
nd she said, "I want my ashes
ken to Beverly Hills and put
t the doors of Gucci." The mor-
i cian asked why, and the lady
eplied,• "That way I know my
aughter will visit me."
Another Phil Berlism is about
mouse going to Heaven and
eing asked by St. Peter how he
iked it. The mouse said, "It's
wonderful, but so huge." "Don't
orry," said St. Peter, "we'll get
ou a set of wheels." Next, a
tomcat died and went to
Heaven. St. Peter asked him
how he liked it there and the
tomcat replied, "Wonderful.
Especially those meals on
wheels."
A stopover at Barstow, Calif.
and then on to Las Vegas ...
Tap on my shoulder at Flamingo
Hilton brought a beautiful sur-
prise ... There stood my 24-
year-old son Scott who had come
to meet us there ... This was
his first visit to Las Vegas since
9 years old ... Turk had come
to Detroit then, bought a Buick
convertible and Scott went with
me for a sightseeing ride back
cross country ... Only two days
couldn't reveal much of Vegas,
but it's most certain the activity
will bring Scott back with , wife
Bonnie.
While in Las Vegas, Cecilia
Pedroza and former localite
Larry Lichterman, both born at
Women's Hospital in Detroit,
were wed.
Lou Lefcort, 85, and true man
of his word in every sense, is
public relations gent for Los
Angeles Saints & Sinners ...
He was public relations guy at
Warner Brothers Studios ...
and responsible for so much
great ,publicity on stars of yes-
teryears ... Probably among his
most widely used was that when
Al Jolson came out with the
first talking picture, The Jazz
Singer . . . Lou has been smok-
ing cigarettes since he was 18
years old and still goes through
a pack a day.
Dave Marks, 86, was with
Metro Goldwyn Mayer 17 years
as an assistant director and di-
rector ... His son, Arthur
Marks, came to Detroit about
eight years ago with a crew to
do Detroit 9000 . . . Arthur will
direct the coming Mario Lanza.

Story.
Handsome Tony Rome with
the magnificent voice and won-
derful personality that always
makes him a big hit, was about
14 or 15 when leaving an or-
phanage and raised by a Jewish
