As a prelude to Federation's Feb. 2 Super Sunday telethon at the United Hebrew Schools, the synagogues are conducting the special Sabbath in conjunction with Federation. The impor- tance of individual participation in a strong and cohesive com- munity will be highlighted as rabbis and guest speakers ad- dress their congregations. Messages will include the Jewish tradition of tzedakah relative to today's growing needs in the local community and to those in Israel and elsewhere overseas who depend on Campaign-funded human services. The Sabbath will also focus on Federation's role through its social service agen- cies and many community awareness programs. Borman will address the Young Adult Division men's leadership meeting on behalf of the 1986 Allied Jewish Cam- paign 7:30 p.m. Thursday, at Cong. Beth Abraham Hillel Moses. General chairman of the 1986 Campaign, Borman is a member of the executive chairman of both the Jewish Welfare Federa- tion and the Jewish Community Council. The Young Adult Division is made up of more than 3,500 people, post-college age through their mid-30s. YAD activities include education, leadership development, service, social gatherings and fund-raising for the Allied Jewish Campaign. Shabbat Shirah Service Planned A special service will be held at Cong. Shaarey Zedek at 8:45 a.m. Saturday in honor of Shab- bat Shirah (Sabbath of Song.). The service is the first of a series of four special musical Sabbath services, sponsored by Beverly and Irving Laker. The Shaarey Zedek Choir, conducted by Eugene Zweig, will join Cantor Chaim Najman in special liturgical selections by prominent synagogue composers. The traditional renditions will be part of the regular Shabbat morning service marking the Sabbath of Song and Tu b'Shevat. . The community.is invited. Motivational Seminars Planned The Jewish dommunity Cen- ter will conduct a series of moti- vational seminars beginning at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the main Jewish Community Cen- ter. ' The instructor will be Darrell Yee, a kymnast and structural engineer, who teaches seminars throughout the country on achieving success. 'Wednesday's seminar is entitled, 'Tow To Be A No- Limit Person: Eliminating Negative Aspects in Your Life." The , topic for, 7:30 p.m. Feb. 5 is "The Power of Positive Think- ing and Motivation."
