business relations between
Japanese and American com-
panies will be the topic of a pair
of seminars being sponsored by
Kyoto Japanese Steakhouse.
The seminars will be conducted
by Glenn Mazur, president of
Japan Business Consultants
Ltd., and are scheduled for Jan.
20 and 22, 1986 at the Kyoto
Japanese Steakhouses in Troy
and downtown Detroit.
"The seminars will cover a
variety of topics tailored to the
participants' interests. Possible
areas of coverage include an
overview of doing business with
the Japanese in the United
States or Japan, initial meet-
ings, negotiations and bargain-
ing, developing long-term rela-
tionships, and marketing.
"Mr. Mazur's seminars take a
`nuts and bolts' approach to the
topic. 'My seminars don't cover
what you can find in a book,'
says Mazur, because 'that is not
what (business) people need.'
"Japan Business Consultants
Ltd., located in Ann Arbor, was
founded in 1981, and offers a
variety of services including-
market research, consulting,
"technical translating, and
simultaneous interpreting. The
firm has consulted for General
Motors, Ford Motor Company,
Michigan Department of Com-
merce, the University of Michi-
gan, and Yamaha Motor Com-
pany.
"Seminar of Monday, Jan. 20,
is at the Troy Kyoto Japanese
Steakhouse, W. Big Beaver Rd.
Dinner will be served promptly
at 6:30 p.m., with the seminar
following at 7:30 p.m. The fee is
$30.
"Seminar of Wednesday, Jan.
22, is at the Renaissance Center
Kyoto. Lunch will be served at 1
p.m., with the seminar following
at 2 p.m. The fee is $20.
"The menu for the dinner
seminar includes Yakitori,
broiled salmonand sushi. The
lunch menu features a Tempura
appetizer and chicken teriyaki.
Both meals include Japanese
soup, rice and a complimentary
decanter of Sake.
"Reservations for the limited
number of spaces can be made
by calling the Kyoto Japanese
Steakhouse in Troy at 649-6340,
or Sheila Sloan, 559-6311.7(
