able to the risk of war, Peres
said at the ETZEL veterans
dinner in Tel Aviv.
Meanwhile, President Reagan
stressed last week that while
the United States wants to find
a solution to the Palestinian
problem neither the U.S. nor Is-
reel will negotiate with the
Palestine Liberation Organiza-
tion, led by Yasir Arafat, as
long as it refuses to recognize
Israel's right to exist.
"You can't ask them (Israel)
to negotiate with someone who's
sitting on the opposite side of
the table saying , that Israel
doesn't have any right to exist,"
Reagan said Tuesday during his
nationally televised press con-
ference from the East Room of
the White House.
"And .this is the main thing,"
the President added. "It's the
reason why we have not felt free
to talk with Arafat either until
he gives up that position." Re-
agan also reiterated the U.S.
position that the PLO must ac
