Chairmen Shelby Tauber and N. Brewster Broder are finaliz- ing plans for the opening of the massive telephone appeal, set for 9:30 a.m. in the Adolph Deutsch Wing of the United He- brew Schools in Southfield. "Super Sunday Super Stars" will highlight the life-sustaining work of the Jewish Welfare Federation and its annual Cam- paign through nearly 70 worldwide human service be- neficiaries. The show also will salute in song the efforts of hundreds of Super Sunday vol- unteers responsible for manning the phones, processing pledge cards and dozens of other de- tails. The cast includes Renee Mahler, Cheryl Riskin, Sharon Radom, Pola Friedman and Shelby Tauber. The festive atmosphere, from costumes to decorations and re- freshments, won't take away from the very serious business of the day-mobilizing the Cam- paign and raising funds. As part of this year's Cam- paign theme of "Partnership," contributors will be asked to strengthen their ties with fellow Jews and reaffirm their com- mitment to Jewish life through the Campaign. Detroit is one of 150 com- munities nationwide that will be keeping the phone lines busy on behalf of the United Jewish Ap- peal. Nearly 10,000 households in the metropolitan area will be called. Tauber and Broder noted that it is especially important to support the Campaign now, when so many of our elderly are turning to the organized com- munity for help and large num- bers of young people are reach- and a Jewish identity.
