Campaign Has
Telethon, Meeting

Volunteers will take to the
phones next week to keep open
Detroit's Allied Jewish Campaign
lifeline.
Sunday is the final day of the
Jewish Welfare Federation's
Women's Division Phonogift tele-
thon from the United Hebiel,v
Schools.
Two shifts of volunteers will
Make calls from 9:15 a.m. to 2 p.m.
in an effort to reach all remaining
. Women's Division contributors
who haven't yet made their 1986
Campaign pledge. Last year's
Phonogift raised almost $70,000
for the. Campaign.
During two brief intermissions,
Linda Lee will be on hand to talk
to workers about the Jewish
Community Center, and Sherry
Lumberg will discuss new prog-
rams at Jewish Vocational Ser-
vice.
On Tuesday, all divisions will
participate in a special telethon
for gifts of $500-$999. The value.of
these potential pledges is esti-
mated at $600,000.
The accelerated telethon activ-
ity leads up the Campaign's Super
Sunday telethon, Feb. 2, led by
chairmen Shelby Tauber and N.
Brewster Broder. This annual
event links hundreds of volun-
teers- with thousands of con-
tributors — a lifeline to Jews loc-
ally, in Israel and overseas.
The Allied Jewish Campaign's
Metropolitan Division will host a
Campaign breakfast and update
meeting 10 a.m. Sunday at the
United Hebrew Schools' Adolph
Deutsch Administrative Wing.
Susan Citrin, president of the
Jewish Family Service, will dis-
cuss trends and needs in the De-
troit Jewish community, along
with some of the accomplishments
that have occurred in the last
year.
For meeting information, call
Carol Auerbach at the Jewish
Welfare Federation, 965-3939.
