that Israel is becoming filled with
persons of "false Jewish 'stave,"
the Agudas HaraboniM-Union of
Orthodox Rabbis of the United
States and Canada, sent a letter to
Premier Shimon Peres this week
demanding immediate Knesset
action on the "Who is , .a Jew"
amendment to the Law of Return
before the "Medinah (Jewish
State) will be turned into a land of
goyim."
The Orthodox rabbis were pro-
testing Peres' proposal that the
Sharply controversial -issue
should be shelved for 10 years be-
cause of its devisive impact on Is-
rael and overseas Jewry. The rab-
bis demanded that the words "ac-
cording to halacha" (religious
law) be added to the section of the

(ICRC) with improper actions re-
garding the acceptance of Israel's
Magen David Adorn into the
world Red Cross body. Operation
Recognition has been campaign-
ing for several years for recogni-
tion of the MDA and its red shield
of David emblem by the Red
Cross.
The ICRI will again consider
the matter during its quadrennial
conference in Geneva in October.
