DRASTIC REDUCTIONS!=

was that she practiced, while
never boasting about it, one of the
most glorious Jewish- duties in
philanthropy: Zedakah b'Sether,
charityin secret, as the most im-
portant aspect of philanthropy.
She was outstanding as teacher
and student, as journalist and
guide to those aspiring for careers
in life.
She was the helpful and helping
wherever and whenever people
were in need, regardless of race or
creed.
A Detroit News editorial sum-
marized that role well when it
stated: '
"A person seemingly without
ego, she never boasted of her
deeds and discoveries, but simply
took for granted the notion that
the noblest goal in life is to help
oilier people."
She earns all that is continuing
to be said in recognition 'of her
greatness as a human being.
What she did and possessed was
-truly genius.- — -

United Nations (JTA) — Israel
charged that "the Syrian domina.'
tion of Lebanon is exploited to
wage terrorist attacks from there
against Israel." Furthermore, Is-
reel said that Syria, together with
Libya, assists terrorist groups
"who commit criminal attacks on
innocent people all over the
world."
Israel's charges were made in a
letter to UN Secretary General
Javier Perez de Cuellar from Am-
bassador Johanan Bein, Israel's
Acting Permanent Representa-
tive to the UN. •

"The infamous Abu Nidal gang,
who took the responsibility for the
two murderous attacks at the in-
ternational airports of Rome and
Vienna, has bases in Syria and in
the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon with
full Syrian approval," the Israeli
diplomat said, adding: "Various
officials, sources confirmed that
the terrorists who committed the
terrible murders at the' airport of
Rome, entered Italy via Syria."
Israel's letter was a reply to a
Syrian complaint last week that
Israel increases tension in the
Mideast by flying its fighter jets
over Lebanon.
Meanwhile, senior military of-
ficials tend to believe foreign
media reports that Syria has re-
moved its mobile SAM-6 and
SAM-8 anti-aircraft missiles re-
cently introduced into Lebanon.
But the Israelis stress that the
SAM-2 surface-to-air missiles
Syria has deployed close to its
border with Lebanon are the grea-
ter menace.
Media reports in the United
States quoted Reagan Administ-
ration officials as saying the Sy-
rians pulled their mobile miSsile-
launchers out of Lebanon, at least
temporarily.
The SAM 6s and 8s, easily
transported by truck, were re-
ported to have been moved to sites
along the Beirut-Damascus
highway and in the Bekaa Valley
in, eastern Lebanon last month.
They were removed after a day or
two, then apparently re-
introduced and moved out again.
Israeli sources said a careful
check would be made to ascertain
that the short range, mobile mis :
siles are in fact no longer in Leba-
non. They, were placed there as
p7ct ) ection for the hard site
Ss" -- longer range, non-
me ile missiles, which represent
a threat to Israeli reco nnaissance
flights over Lebanon. The flights
are considered essential to
nriiitor terrorist activities on a
daily basis inside Lebanon which
may be,preparatory to attacks on
