THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS r. TrafiroN Friday, January 3, 1986. 39 r - NEWS RiXSRANS( IMT ORCHARD MALL, erciani lake Rd. N. of Maple 851-6400 Gourmet Oriental-American Food "A\di-Semidem `Alive, Well' New York (JTA) — Author and historian Elie Wiesel told an Anti-Defamation League of B'nai B'rith (ADL) audience last week that anti-Semitism is "a- live and well" and that there are more anti-Semites now than there were "one year ago or even five years ago." Wiesel was the guest speaker at ADL's second annual Benja- min Epstein Memorial Lecture. Mr. Epstein was national direc- tor of the ADL from 1947 to 1978. In his address, titled "Jewish Honor," Wiesel said anti- Semites today range from "fash- ionable salon and intellectual types" to "obscene" ones such as . Black Muslim leader Louis Far- takhan and Holocaust re- visionists who deny the reality of the Hitler massacre of Jews during World War H. "All of them," he went on, "are part of the same mechanism. They perpetuatS•the oldest group prejudice in re corded history." Among the anti-Semites, he included those who "persecute Jews in Arab countries and torment them in ail/jet prisons and forbid them to pray 'And study Jewish his- tory." Referring to Farrakhan's anti-Semitic speeches the author said they are filled.with "absur- dities and obscenities." He criticized black 4eaders for being "too mild and a little too re- spectful" in their reactions to Farrakhan. "No ethnic group in the United States," he went on, "has helped the black commun- ity as much as Jews" have done in activities, ideas and money." - ONE COMPLIMENTARY LUNCH OR DINER WHEN A SECOND LUNCH OR DINNER OR EQUAL OR_GREATER VALUE IS PURCHASED Carry-Out And Delivery Services Mon.-Thurs. 11:30 to 10:30, -Fri. &Sat. 11:30 to'12 Mid.
