ganization, or representatives of
the PLO to expel them im-
mediately because the PLO will
always be a base and a center of
terror against Israelis."
The Abu Nidal terror organi-
zation is described as the
strangest of the terrorist groups,
according to Dr. Gabi Ben-Dor,
an Arab terror expert at Haifa
University. He describes it as
the most extreme, most radical,
least political of the terror
groups which have grown out of
the PLO.
Ben-Dor says it is small, com-
pact, wild, adventurous and car-
ries out terror foi terror's sake
rather than combining terror
with political aims, as the
mainstream Fatah wing of the
PLO does.
Abu Nidal was part of the
PLO organization up to about
1974, but became pro-Iraqi until
1981, then switched over to
Syria for its support and base,
and until recently had three
main bases in Syria and
Syrian-controlled Lebanon. •
In other news, a number of
terrorist incidents were reported
this week in different parts of
the country, but there were no
casualties.
Police bomb disposal experts
detonated or dismantled explo-
sive charges near the Tel Aviv
University in the Ramat Aviv
section of north Tel Aviv, in
Petah Tikva and in Kfar Saba.
A small explosive charge went
off last week in Afulah. It was
the seventh terrorist bombing
attempt in the central Jezreel
valley town, where many Arabs
from both Israel and the West
Bank have offices or come to
work every day.
• In yet another incident, the
Egged bus cooperative. reported
that 100 of nearly 1,000 buses
parked in its main area parking
lot near the Erez checkpoint at
•
the entrance to the Gaza Strip
were gutted by fire on Dec. 22.
The damage was estimated to be
about $1.3 million. A 21-year-
old Gaia resident detained by
police as a suspect, has repor-
tedly admitted to have set fire
to the buses.
Meanwhile, the three Palesti-
nians charged with killing three -
Israeli aboard a yacht off the
coast of Cyprus last September
were convicted of murder in a
Cyprus court last month. Abdul
Al Khalifa, Khaled Abdul Kader
Al Khatib and Ian Michael
' Davison were given life prison
sentences for the crime.
In Jerusalem, authorities
have warned leaders of the
Christian churches, in East
Jerusalem that terrorists might
try to use their vehicles to
smuggle explosives through the
Jordan bridges, Haaretz re-
ported.
According tb the paper, the
authorities informed the cler-
gymen they had information
. that the terrorists might try to
smuggle explosives from Jordan
into the West Bank, through the
aid of drivers of the cars, or by
sticking explosive charges to the
bottom of the cars without the
knowledge of their owners.
The heads of the churches
carry diplomatic passports, and
their cars are usually not
checked when crossing the
bridges to Israel.
Leaders of the churches repor-
tedly showed understanding and
promise to be on the alert.
