TOTS-IN-TRANSIT car stic-
kers, designed to alert and cau-
tion nearby drivers of tots in the
car, are being sold through
mid-January in 56 metro-
Detroit and Toledo area Pizza
Hut restaurants to raise money
for Children's Hospital of Michi-
gan ... The fund-raising pro-
gram is sponsored by Pepsi-Cola
Bottling Group and Pizza Hut
Restaurants.
The Tots-In-Transit program
reinforces the newly enacted
Michigan seatbelt law by warn-
ing drivers to execute caution
while driving near the stickered
vehicles.
People shouldn't have to be
warned by stickers ... Exercis-
ing extreme caution is a must at
all times anyway ... or should
9
be.
JOSEF ROISMAN, who
started his business in Detroit
because the city offered him a
challenge, is designer of De-
troit's newest nightspots .. .
Monroe's in Trappers Alley,
Taboo in Rivertown and the ele-
gant Drake among dozens of
other establishments.
Josef is no stranger to the
architecture and design commu-
nity ... He conceived plans for
niteries and restaurants also in
Chicago and Florida ... In
Chicago, Josef is presently in
the midst of designing Chit-
Chat, a state-of-the-art dance
club ... and in Florida he has
designed La Notte, presently
known as Shooter's.
RESTAURANTS THAT
have pre-cut ingredients for
Western omelettes should keep
them in separate containers ...
This is especially true for delica-
tessens ... At least one we
know of has the corned beef, on-
ions and green peppers mixed
together from early morning ...
and if a person looked, he or she
would find very dark, unappetiz-
ing corned beef.
WOMAN SPENDS HER
New Year's Eve taking a bubble
bath with oils of all kinds ...
good book ... and bottle of
champagne.
LETTERS TO THIS colum-
nist must be signed with ad-
dress and phone number .. .
Should it be used in the "Mail
Dept.", anonymity will be re-
spected if requested ... But a
name, address and phone
number must accompany all let-
ters ... otherwise they abso-
lutely cannot be considered.
MORNING MAN BEHIND
the open kitchen at a local
neighborhood eatery sends out
scrambled eggs with spots on
them ... When they're sent
back, he doesn't look to see why,
but throws. the same ones back
in the pan where they were
made.
There's also the morning man
at another local restaurant be-
hind the open cooking area lift-
ing things with his hands after
smoothing his hair ... (Guaran-
tee he won't be there after this
week).
ONE-LINER DEPT. ... You

may be a social lion to your
friends but you're just an ani-
mal cracker to me ... Why don't
you gargle concrete and let it
get hard? ... What a combina-
tion — corney and illiterate —
You're the sort of guy who talks
penthouses and takes subways
... He's the kind of guy who
picks his friends — to pieces ...
They're about as compatable as
ham and matzhas ... He's an
intellectual. He can bore you on
every subject ... You're snappy
on the comeback — like your
checks ... Don't you ever get
tired of having yourself around?
... Stay with me. I want to be
alone ... Why don't you sent
your wits out to be sharpened?
. Are you a self-made man, or
do you want to blame someone
else? ... Why don't you go on a
diet and quit eating my heart
out?
RELIABLE WORD ISthat a
noted northwest delicatessen
will soon be sold ... if it already
hasn't been.

Prison Changes
Promised

Jerusalem (JTA) — Prisons
Commissioner Rafi Suissa said
last week that he would act on
demands for better conditions by
Arab prisoners provided they
end a week-long hunger strike.
He made clear that whatever
changes are in order, security
arrangements will remain as
they are.
According to lawyers for the
prisoners, some 1,500 inmates of
four prisons are on strike.
Suissa, who met with the
lawyers last Wednesday, said
the strike is fully effective only
at the Jenin and Juneid lock-
ups. Prisoners at Ashkelon are
eating bread and those at the
Hebron jail staged a token
strike that lasted half a day.
The strike leaders have been
dispersed to other prisons.
Suissa said he would agree to
improve the qualty of prison
food and sanitation after the
strike is ended but only within
the limits of the prison budgets.
"If there is not enough money
for medicines in hospitals there
is no justification for building
more prisons" to alleviate over-
crowded conditions, Suissa said.
He was referting to the finan-
cial crisis that hit public hospi-
tals all over the country this
week.
