POLA FRIEDMAN, chair-
man of the evening for recent
Alzheimer's Disease and Related
Disorders $100 per person
gathering in beautiful abode of
Doreen and David Hermelin,
told folks at ballroom mike,
"Trouble was finding out what
night their home would be
available. They're so gracious
and giving."
This is Doreen and David
Hermelin ... who love to
entertain ... and are always of-
fering their spacious living
quarters for these fine charita-
ble gatherings ... Even the
great desserts ... so much that
Doreen is always asking who
wants to take some home.
Bad weather kept the crowd
down ... but not by much ...
because Alzheimer's is today
among the disorders finally
achieving the recognition it de-
serves ... thanks to people like
Dian Wilkins, executive director
of the local association ... and
her very capable staff ... plus
so many folks jumping on the
bandwagon to help lick this ill-
ness.
Doreen's and Dave's home has
everything ... except a number
outside the drive leading to
their estate on Bingham Road
... If you're thinking of a holi-
day present for the couple that
has everything, what about
this?
Three cheers for the Touch of
Class Valet parkers usually
used by Doreen and Dave for
their affairs ... It's owned by
Dan Sobel and Robert Spector
... and their gents did a super
job in the lousy weather.
CONGRATS . . . to Esther
and Max Rubin ... on their an-
niversary ... Also same day
congratulations to Esther ... on
her birthday.
AL "SONNY" GOLDSTEIN
and myself will co-chair this
year's annual Shrine Circus day
by Crescent Shrine ... 1,457 un-
fortunate youngsters will be
guests of the group in March.
CONGRATS . . . to Marilyn
and Al "Sonny" Goldstein ... on
their 45th anniversary.
LISA LEIB, 16-year-old
daughter of Barbara and Dr.
Joel Leib, was first runner-up in
recent 1986 Miss Michigan Teen
U.S.A. Pageant at Kingsley Inn
... Although not the winner to
appear on national TV, Lisa was
voted Miss Photogenic and The
Contestant's Choice awards.
Barbara's ambition is to be a
physician like her dad ... and is
a professional model doing
nationwide work ... She has
been a pretty cheerleader for
West Bloomfield High past three
years.
Her entry was by total sur-
prise ... Sister Cheryl had
submitted Lisa's picture, plus
interesting facts ... The entire
family was there silently rooting
for her ... mom, dad, Cheryl,
brother Eric and Aunt Bernice
Rosenthal.
I DO DEPT. . . . Dr. Marc
Leitson and Jamie Baruch will
do the ring bit around spring.
Marc, three years, and dad,
Dr. Sidney Leitson, 40 years,
have moved their Leitson

Chiropractic Clinic to The
Berkley Plaza on Coolidge be-
tween 11 and 12 Mile.
CONGRATS . . . to Harriet
and Dr. Martin Selik . . . on
their 43rd anniversary.
HERE'S A NEW YEAR'S
EVE party restricted only for
youngsters 3 to 12 years old ...
My Place (just for kids) is hav-
ing an all night New Year's Eve
Sleepover party . . . with the
youngster shindig from 7 p.m.
New Year's Eve to 9 a.m. New
Year's Day ... (extended stay
available) ... $35 includes late
supper, complete breakfast and
fun with all the New Year's Eve
goodies included ... hats,
favors, etc. ... Reservations are
a must (with deposit) by Dec. 27
... For more info call Rick
Shaye, 540-5702 ... My Place is
at 3610 Maple and Lahser
Sorry, this N.Y.E. party is for
.kids these ages only ... So if
you don't feel like going out,
doesn't mean the youngsters
have to stay home ... and if you
are going out, nice to know the
kids are having fun also, super-
vised by a trained staff ... that
is, those kiddies who stay
awake.
CONGRATS . . . to Dave and
Bea (Shear) Shulman . . . and
Phil and Ceil (Gerson) Goldstein
... on their anniversaries .
wed two days apart ... Dave
and Bea tripped the aisle Dec.
22 ... Phil and Ceil did their bit
Dec. 24 ... The four were all
friends since high school ... and
are also "Machetunim" ... Their
children, Larry and Fran Shul-
man, were married eight years,
Dec. 18.
PR GAL SHEILA SLOAN
needed more room ... and new
address is now 24100 Southfield.
WAS JUST A CLOSED
holiday party for The Jewish
News employees at 5000 Town
Center ... an annual one ...
and best yet ... as Wyn and
Harold Landis did their usual
excellent catering wonders ...
and Frankie Paul had everybody
singing with his very fine accor-
dian styling.
Speaking of singing, Wyn and
Harold are both graduates of the
Juilliard School of Music . . .
and met when Harold owned
Omena Inn where they needed a
songstress and Wyn came out
... She also studied under Mar-
guerite Kozenn Chajes and gave
The Jewish News folks a big
thrill in rendering a few light-
opera offerings accompaned by
Frankie . . . Harold says Wyn
hasn't sung in five years . . .
Wyn makes it eight ... but she
certainly hasn't lost her touch
Wyn and Harold are not
only superior caters ... but also
a wonderful couple ... No, bash-
ful Harold the baritone didn't
sing ... Would have loved to
hear them do a duet.
