the coalition.
Shifrin has made contribu-
tions to the Jewish secular
community for more than 30
years. A member of the Work-
-, men's Circle, he was chairman
of branch •060 (1953 to 1966),
member of the Michigan Distict
Committee, and member of the
combined school board.-- —He
taught at both the Workmen's
Circle schools and at the com-
bined Workmen's Circl ----and
Sholem Aleichem schools.
Shifrin has been active in the
Jewish Community Council for
nearly 30 years. He was a
member of the community rela-
tions committee (1955 to 1975)
and served as chairman of the
media committee from 1976 to
1981. He hosted a television
program on behalf of the Coun-
cil. He was a member of the
Council's executive committee
from 1962 to 1984.
Shifrin now serves as a
member of the board of directors
of the United Hebrew Schools

and the Midrasha. In addition to
Workmen's Circle, he is a

member of Sholem Aleichem In-
stitute and the Jewish Labor
Committee.

Seniors To Install
New Officers

The Senior Adult Council will
have its installation and honor
Helen Singer at its next meet-
ing at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 19 in the
Jimmy Prentis Morris Branch of
the Jewish Community Center.
Officers to be installed are:
Harry Shiovitz, president; Jack
Kroker and Molly Pitzak, vice
presidents; Ted Masserman, par-
liamentarian; Ella Klarman, re-
cording secretary; Shirley
Shiovitz, treasurer; and Mrs.
Singer, chairman of the board
and agenda chairman.
Cantor Jeffrey Shiovitz, ac-
companied by Celia Dzodin, will
entertain.
Mrs. Singer has been a
spokesman and ombudsman for
the Center's senior adults, has
been president of the Senior
Adult Council for five years, has -
planned Sunday and special
programs and has served at the
Morris Branch on behalf of
senior adults.
Admission is free to Center
members.
