The coalition awards are pre- sented to members of the com- munity who have demonstrated a commitment to community leadership, and Humanistic principles, while celebrating a secular Jewish identity. Bluestone is co-chairman of the Economic Alliance for Michigan. From 1972 until his retirement in 1980 he served as vice president of the United Automobile Workers Union (UAW), having previously served as administrative assis- tant to UAW President Walter Reuther (1961 to 1970, to Vice President Leonard Woodcock (1955 to 1961) and as an inter- national representative. Bluestone was graduated from City College of New York, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and has pursued graduate study at the Univer- sity of Bern, Switzerland. He re- ceived the C.C.N.Y. Townsend Harris Award and a fellowship from the Woodrow Wilson Fel- lowship Foundation. Bluestone is currently a Uni- versity Professor of Labor
