Laker Chanukah
Concert Sunday

Cong. Shaarey Zedek's annual
Chanukah festival will take
place on Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
The annual concert is spon-
sored by the Laker Family and
will feature the augmented
Shaarey Zedek Choir, directed
by Eugene Zweig, the youth
choir, directed by Robin
Schakne, as well as Cantor
Chaim Najman and Rabbi Irwin
Groner. The concert will be ac-
companied by Carole Lasser,
pianist, an instrumental
ensemble, and a group of stu-
dents from the Shaarey Zedek
High School, who will partici-
pate in the torch bearing cere-
mony as part of the Chanukah
pageant.
Two new choral compositions,
Al Hanissim and Hanerot
Halalu, have been commissioned
for this occasion by local corn-
posers Dr. Sholom Kalib and Dr.
Morton Gold, will be premiered
at the concert.
Admission to the Laker
Chanukah concert is free, and
open to the entire community.
Refreshments will be served in
the social hall following the con-
cert.

Group To Benefit
Intermarrieds

Temple Beth Jacob will hold
the first meeting of a group to
discuss the needs of people who
are involved in, or contemplat-
ing a marriage between a Jew
and a non-Jew at 8 p.m. Jan. 9
at Temple Beth Jacob.
Plans are to invite in a psy-
chologist, marriage counselor,
sex therapist, attorney and an
insurance planner. The group
will meet as frequently as the
participants wish and it will be
tailored to its needs.
Problems that pertain specifi-
cally to mixed marriages such
as holiday observances, in-laws
and children will be discussd.
