Temple Celebrates
Renovations
Temple Emanu-El will celeb-
rate completion of Phase II of its
renovation project this weekend.
Special Shabbat services will be
held at 8:15 p.m. today and
10:30 a.m. Shabbat morning
honoring those who serve the
congregation and who made the
renovation possible.
On Saturday at 8 p.m., there
will be a dinner-dance which
will feature the music of Mar-
shall Korby. Dinner will be pre-
ceded by a cocktail reception at
7 p.m. in the Rosen Foyer.
The foyer renovation, funded
by the • Robert and Stanley
Rosen families, was completed
in 1984 during Phase I of the
renovation and named his past
September in honor of their par-
ents, Rosa and Nathan Rosen's
60th wedding anniversary.
The Aaron Kahn family will
be recognized during dinner for
their gift of a Tree of Life pre-
sented to the congregation in
memory of their son and
brother, Randy Kahn. Other
contributors, sponsors and
workers who made the renova-
tion and weekend celebration
possible also will be honored.
Phase III of the renovation is
already in planning. This phase,
consisting primarily of the re-
newal of the temple library, will
be completed in 1986. Funds for
this project are a gift of the fam-
ily of Dr. Ezra Shaya. When
completed, the library will be
named the Sasson Shaya Memo-
rial Library, in memory of Dr.
Shaya's father.
Holocaust Films
Shown At Temple
Temple Emanu-El will pre-
sent a program on Holocaust-
related films at 1 p.m. Jan. 18
in the temple.
Prof. Joseph A. Gomez, co-
director of the film studies pro-
gram at Wayne State Univer-
sity, will discuss the following
films: The Pawnbroker, Night
and Fog and The Memory of
Justice.
Services will begin at 10:30
a.m. followed by a luncheon for
which reservations are required.
There is a fee for the luncheon.
Admission is free to services and
the program at 1 p.m.
