The course included basic first-aid, initial treatment in cardiac arrest, various resus- citation techniques and infant delivery. Eighteen of the 20 partici- pants completed the course suc- cessfully. Joseph Handleman, former Detroiter and national chairman of the American Red Magen David for Israel, said that the course was given in response to the request of Dr. Robert Tabash, Bethlehem's municipal physician. "Dr. Tabash," Hand- leman stated, "said that when he took up his post several months ago, he was shocked to find that the emergency services of the Bethlehem fire depart- ment did not include first-aid. Since the fire department and ambulance service are the same body, Dr. Tabash felt it was im- perative to upgrade first-aid training." Dr. Tabash "lauded the MDA for its responsiveness to the need for the course," Handleman said, "and added that some of the graduates are now eager to take an MDA paramedic course." Washington — William Webs- ter, director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, said Tuesday that the FBI has found links between persons seeking to harm "enemies of Israel" and recent attacks on Arab- Americans. Webster refused to identify the attackers, but the FBI had previously linked the Jewish Defense League to the October bombing of the Santa Ana, Calif. office of the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee. No one has been charged in that incident and the JDL denied that it was involved. A fire destroyed the Washing- ton office of the Anti- Discrimination Committee in November, and the West Coast director of the group was killed in the October bombing.
