An all-out month-long cam-
paign to mobilize all payments for
all unpaid Israel Bond commit-
ments as part of a special effort to
provide jobs and to aid Israel's
economic recovery has been an-
nounced by Jerome Soble, cash
chairman of the Israel Bond cam-
paign in Metropolitan Detroit.
Soble pointed out that Israel.
has made drastic cuts in its na-
tional budget in order to reduce
the trade deficit and slow down
inflation. In addition, the people
have taken a 20 percent cut in
their real wages and there has
also been a loss of jobs, he said.
Since the birth of the Bond
Organization in 1951, more than
$7.3 billion in Bond proceeds have
been provided for the economic
development of the nation. More
than $4 billion in matured Israel
Bonds have been repaid by the
government of Israel.
Funds mobilized through the
sale of Israel Bond securities have
been utilized to strengthen every
facet of Israel's economic infras-
tructure, including energy, indus-
try, transportation, agriculture,
high technology industry and
communications. .

A Detroit delegation is being
formed to attend the third Pan
American Conference of the
World Union of General Zionists,
slated Dec. 15-17 at the Diplomat
Hotel in Hollywood, Fla.
Persons interested in joining
the Detroit delegation should call
the Detroit District-Zionist
Organization of America, 569-
1515.
The conference will be preceded
by a meeting of the national
executive committee of the ZOA,
which will be keynoted by Yehuda
Blum, former Israel Ambassador
to the United Nations.
Scheduled to address the con-
ference are Ambassador Meir
Rosenne of Israel; Israel's Minis-
ter of Finance, Yitzhak Modai;
Assistant Secretary of State for
Inter-American Affairs, Elliott
Abrams; President of the Argen-
tine Parliament, Dr. Juan Carlos
Pugliese; Mayor of Tel Aviv,
Shlomo Lahat; and Chairman of
the Jewish Agency for Israel,
Leon Dulzin.
A dinner-session on Dec. 16 will
be addressed by Sen. Paula Haw-
kins of Florida.
